MEET DOUGIE LAMPKIN
Born into one of Britain’s most famous motorcycling families, Dougie Lampkin was always destined for a life on two-wheels. Under the typically tough Yorkshire guidance of his late father Martin, himself the first ever FIM Trial World Champion back in 1975, Dougie soon rose through the youth ranks quickly establishing himself to be a force to be reckoned with in his own right on the international scene. He was soon to secure the European Trial crown in 1993 aged just seventeen before taking his first British title a year later, and by 1997 Dougie had achieved his dream of matching his father’s feat and becoming FIM Trial World Champion himself.
Like father, like son
A year after my late father Martin won the first ever FIM Trial World Championship in 1975, I was born into a winning family on 23rd March 1976.
First time for everything
May 1993 saw me make my Scottish Six Days Trial debut, riding alongside my young brother Harry and as always with my mum Isobel looking after me.
Following on the family tradition both my sons Alfie and Fraiser have also been brought up on two-wheels, but with the focus on fun rather than winning.
Dougie Lampkin continues his magical relationship with the World famous Scottish Six Days Trial (SSDT), having just taking the victory at the historic event for a record extending fourteenth time at the age of forty-seven years old.
